The other day when preparing a grocery store-bought turnip, this is what I had to go through to get to the vegetable:
It seems to be the fashion lately to cover root vegetables (turnips, parsnips, rutabagas) in a thick coating of wax. Thick coating. Ugh. I miss a garden of my own.
