So y'all remember what our kitchen looked like? White painted cabinets, lovely faux wood vinyl countertops, small window to the backyard, refrigerator harboring earwigs, lovely segmented dividing wall from the dining room? Well, get ready to forget that, because we're remodeling, baby!
We've hired a designer; we've hired a contractor; we've purchased natural wood cabinets, stone countertops, new appliances, tile for the floor, and all sorts of fixtures for our new bathroom (taking up half the existing laundry room). And then on the 30th of June, we let Maggie draw on the walls.
Because after July 2nd, this is what the kitchen looked like.
And even the wall between the laundry room and the garage is gone!
We are suuuuuuper excited about this project and will keep you updated as exciting things transpire. And imagine coming to visit us and not having to share the one toilet and shower in the entire house. Or be afraid of getting a splinter from a kitchen drawer (this happened to me a few weeks ago). Or wake up in the morning to discover the refrigerator has crapped out again and the milk is spoiled. Or see the backyard from the front door.
While this happens we're staying in a friend's house who is serendipitously on vacation for the entire month on July. That way we don't have to worry about Maggie playing with power tools or stepping on loose nails or Tessa breathing in all that construction dust and being woken up with construction bangings. So it's kind of like we're on vacation at the same time as our house is being transformed.
